I author the informational site benefits-of-resveratrol.com, and thought I might be able to help with your question. Resveratrol is a naturally occurring antioxidant you can eat in many different foods like dark chocolate, red wine, grapes, peanuts, japanese knot weed and even the yucca plant. Those are your best natural sources. From a supplement source, you want to be real careful about buying pills. Since resveratrol is an antioxidant, it is quickly oxidized when it comes into contact with air and then you're getting no value out of it. So if you're going to get a pill, which there are many of, make sure the pill comes in a blister pak that is sealed tight. (Same for a capsule). Otherwise, everytime you open the jar of pills, each one will have less and less value. I think the best resveratrol supplement on the market is one called OPC Factor. It's got a lot more than just resveratrol. Its resveratrol content matches that of its OPC content, which is another amazing antioxidant found in grapes. Together they are better than one alone - thus the benefits of red wine. It comes in individually sealed packets that you mix with a tiny amount of water - perfect for traveling And unlike a pill, resveratrol is best absorbed in the mouth - called buccal absorption - so mixing it with water will produce more absorption than just swallowing a pill. |
