Is there a link between high altitudes and longevity?
There is a proven link between longevity and colder climates, like Iceland, however, is there also a link between high altitudes and longevity?I know high altitudes also have cold climates in some cases, however, does altitude have an effect of it's own?

I have a platelet count of 1,000,000 Hct 9, hgb 28, iron level of 17.I have had a hysterectomy and also been checked for a GI bleed which was negative. They put me on iron and I have to go see a hematologist. Can't tell where blood is getting lost but H& H are 9 and 28, and platelets > 1,000,000
Celtic people and weight and longevity?
My family is Irish and Scottish and since I am a genealogist I have traced my family for hundreds of years and there are a few questions I cannot get out of my mind about the Celtic race in general. One would be good health and extremly long life, my family has not died of anything for hundreds of years other than old age and being killed on the battlefield. The second thing is weight, my family is fat for no reason, I am short and eat less than a thousand calories a day and weight 130 pounds. I'm healthy and I eat well but my body is resistant to starvation because I have starved myself and what people with an ED feel and suffer I never did. So my question is is there some Celtic gene or family gene responsible for this and if there is. Is there anyone else of Celtic decent and experience the same thing? Please reply if you do because I feel weird about this.I know that not all people of Celtic decent are fat because I'm not fat but it takes a lot to starve off a pound I do have and I almost never lose weight when I'm sick if I'm sick my family seldom catches anything either. No one in my family has ever had the flu or has ever vomitted and no one believes us but it's true. I'm freaked out about it and I just want some answers. Thanks
